Christine Carr is the Founder of the Community Development Finance Group at Silicon Valley Bank (SVB). She founded the group for SVB in 2002. Christine started her career in Washington, DC, as an Urban Intern at the Dept of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). While there, she worked on the Senate Housing Subcommittee during the period that hearings were held and the legislation that included the Community Reinvestment Act was drafted, marked up and voted out of committee. She worked at HUD for a total of 5 years in the Urban Development Action Grant Program, in DC and also in the San Francisco office in Housing Loan Management. After leaving HUD she worked for First Interstate Mortgage Company, Citibank’s Real Estate Investor Services group, First Nationwide Bank (which became Cal Fed) and Bank of America, doing, for the most part, affordable housing lending.
Ms. Carr attended St. Francis College in Loretto, Pa. and received a BA in History. She received a Masters in Public Administration with a concentration in City Management from the University of Pittsburgh. She serves on a number of Boards and Committees in the Affordable housing arena. She and her husband raised their 3 daughters in Berkeley, CA and she continues to live there.
