EBALDC Appoints Karim Sultan as Chief Operating Officer (COO)
Oakland, California – The East Bay Asian Local Development Corporation (EBALDC) is excited to announce the appointment of Karim Sultan as Chief Operating Officer (COO). As COO, Karim oversees property operations, asset management, and internal operations and is part of the Executive Leadership Team focused on executing the mission and core values of EBALDC.
Since 2015, Karim served as the Vice President of Affordable Housing at Covia Community, where he oversaw affordable housing operations. Karim brings over 25 years of experience in the real estate industry, particularly in construction and property and asset management.
Karim started his real estate career as a Licensed Realtor and Investor and in the for-profit property management sector. He joined the affordable housing industry in 2008, where he assumed different roles, widening his experience. He previously worked for EBALDC as a Property Supervisor and for Mercy Housing as an Asset Manager.

“I am coming to EBALDC to partner with the team to advance the healthy neighborhood approach,” said Karim. “I also want to work collaboratively to position the organization for the future,” he added.
Karim holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Tuskegee University and is a Certified Occupancy Specialist (COS) and Tax Credit Specialist. He also serves on the Non-Profit Housing Association of Northern California (NPH) board and is a Bay Area Asset Management Group member.
“Karim brings a wealth of experience back to EBALDC – in property and asset management, and also as a leader in our sector. I am excited for his partnership to help EBALDC meet our mission,” stated EBALDC CEO, Andy Madeira.
