EBALDC is stepping up to Oakland’s housing challenge
…in Chinatown, the East Bay Asian Local Development Corp. (EBALDC) has grown into a community social services powerhouse — and one of Oakland’s most active developers of new housing.
Over the decades, it has developed or preserved more than 2,200 affordable homes and 300,000 square feet for community groups and programs. Meanwhile it’s gradually expanded operations beyond Oakland into other East Bay cities.
But in recent years, EBALDC has stepped up its development game. It’s increasingly become a go-to joint venture partner for some of the region’s largest developers, such as Related California and Strada Investment Group, bringing its affordable housing expertise and community connections to major projects. It’s currently working on roughly a half dozen current or future housing projects that will together bring more than 1,000 units to Oakland.
