EBALDC Partners with Kaiser Permanente on Fund for Housing Affordability
EBALDC is proud to announce our partnership with Kaiser Permanente, Enterprise Community Partners, and the City of Oakland on the Housing for Health Fund, a segment of Kaiser Permanente’s $200 million commitment to tackling housing insecurity through their Thriving Communities Fund.
Kaiser Permanente has committed to investing $50 million towards housing affordability efforts in the Bay Area, half of which is prioritized for Oakland. Their first investment will be approximately $5.4 million towards Kensington Gardens Apartments, a 41-unit housing complex in the San Antonio neighborhood of Oakland and EBALDC’s latest acquisition. The investment is the first local impact investment from the Fund.

This couldn’t come at a more critical time for San Antonio, a district on the brink of gentrification. To adequately address the urgent housing crisis we are facing in the Bay Area, we must think creatively and collaboratively. Housing is more than a roof over our heads; it is central to our health and well-being. We hope this fruitful partnership can serve as a powerful model for Oakland, California, and the nation.”
Through this acquisition and partnership, we are helping more than 80 individuals stay in their homes in Oakland and apply our Healthy Neighborhoods Approach, providing much needed social services to help the San Antonio community stay healthy, vibrant and safe. We hope that the Housing for Health Fund will serve as a national model and guide other organizations in supporting residents’ ability to remain in their homes and create healthy and diverse neighborhoods.
