Preservation Park Pillar
Sponsor Spotlight:
We are pleased to highlight Cahill Contractors as an EBALDC Gala sponsor this year at the Preservation Park Pillar tier.
In existence since 1911, Cahill Contractors is a San Francisco Bay Area-based construction firm with broad–based experience building housing, commercial, education, and healthcare facilities. Cahill, whose past work includes the Huntington Hotel on the top of San Francisco’s Nob Hill and the redevelopment of Union Square in the early 2000s, began building multi-family affordable housing in the 1990s, including EBALDC’s 567-unit Lion Creek Crossings in East Oakland’s Havenscourt neighborhood. Cahill is also the lead contractor for EBALDC’s Lake Merritt BART project which will include 190 affordable units. Family-owned and operated, Cahill is now under its 4th generation of family leadership, with Kathryn Cahill Thompson at the helm since 2016.
“Since Cahill’s first project with EBALDC, the Lion Creek Crossings project in the early 2000s, Cahill has been a valuable and respected partner in making our vision for affordable housing and healthy communities come to life. We continue to have a strong working partnership with Cahill and look forward to working with them for years to come,” said Capri Roth, EBALDC’s Executive Vice President of Real Estate Development.
Below is a Q & A with Cahill Construction:
What brought you into the EBALDC Family?
Our introduction to EBALDC came in the early 2000s on the Lion Creek Crossings project. We worked on the first three phases, including all of the park, bridge, roads, and infrastructure encompassing 26 acres. It was an outstanding experience and we have enjoyed being an EBALDC partner ever since.
What about EBALDC’s work most excites you?
The exciting part of EBALDC’s work is the impact made on the community and its residents. EBALDC’s commitment to the East Bay’s most in-need population is inspiring, and the continued improvements made for the communities served are significant.
How does your company’s vision align with EBALDC’s vision of an “East Bay where everyone has a place to call home and the resources to thrive”?
As a Bay Area-based family-owned company, we are committed to the communities in which we live and work. With a focus on building for the community, we share a similar vision to EBALDC, to nurture a place people from all walks of life can call home and thrive.
How does EBALDC’s work relate to your work and the transformation you’d like to see in the world?
Our commitment to affordable housing and building a better Bay Area goes hand in hand with EBALDC’s work, creating tangible impacts on the communities in which EBALDC serves.
