Asian Resource Center

Asian Resource Center

Property Description

Since its formation in 1975, the East Bay Asian Local Development Corporation (EBALDC) has sought to bring together the many segments of the Asian community — Chinese, Japanese, Filipino, Korean, Vietnamese, Cambodian, young, old, immigrant and American born, to work together to build a better community. This program of community development is an effort to benefit both concentrated settlements of low income Asians and the dispersed Asian households of the East Bay.

EBALDC renovated an abandoned warehouse to become the Asian Resource Center to fulfill this mission. The building symbolizes concepts of community development: economic self-sufficiency, centralization of community services, and the development of business and personal capabilities among participating individuals and organizations.
