2013 VITA Tax Season a Success!
Once again, thanks to our dedicated volunteers and new and returning clients, we surpassed our goals for the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program 2013 tax season! We celebrated the occasion at our annual VITA Volunteer and Customer Appreciation party at One PacificCoast Bank.
2013 Results:
- 130 Volunteers
- 3000 Hours of Volunteer Service
- 1500 Tax Returns Filed
- $1M in EITC Claimed
- $2M in Refunds to the Community
- 64 Savings Customers
- $90,000 in Total Savings
Over the last 11 years, with the assistance of hundreds of volunteers from the community, and collaboration with partner organizations, the IRS and financial supporters, VITA program has served more than 7,300 low income individuals, families, and entrepreneurs and returned more than $9.1 million in federal and state refunds to the community. It is estimated that about 80% of refunds are then spent locally, which generates local sales, wages, and jobs, ultimately boosting the local economy right here in the East Bay.
