Community Shows Up to West Oakland Leadership Council’s Health Fair!

On September 30, 2023, EBALDC’s West Oakland Leadership Council hosted a Community Health Fair at SPARC-it Place behind the California Hotel. The open-air event featured information and services from vendors such as Aetna Medical Solutions, West Oakland Health Center, Center for Elders Independence, Bay Area Mural Project, Asian Health Services, Black Teachers Project, Lao Family Community, Immanuel Temple, Brooklyn Haircuts, Marcus Books, and True Connect. Immanuel Temple brought a mobile clinic where they explored how old your body type is and how to gain and live a healthier life. Marcus Books gave away free books, and other vendors gave away brand-new phones and tablets, clothes, and more. Philandrew D. Miller, Jr., Senior Resident Services Coordinator, says: “The West Oakland leadership planned an amazing event! They had food, fruit and music. During the event there were several raffles. Our local grocery stores donated gift cards to the West Oakland leadership who gave them out to the raffle winners. Great job, West Oakland Leadership Group!”
