Greetings from Charise Fong, Interim CEO
Dear Friends,
Today is Joshua Simon’s last day as CEO of EBALDC. All of us here at EBALDC thank him for his 20 years
of service and leadership in so many different roles.
I have had the privilege of working in partnership with Josh these past eight years as EBALDC launched
our Healthy Neighborhoods approach. During this time, EBALDC has grown and deepened our impact in
the communities we serve. Our Healthy Neighborhoods approach is grounded in our 45-year old core
values of centering racial equity and a deeply held belief in the inherent strength, health and resiliency
of our neighborhoods and communities. We know that so much more is possible when we collaborate
closely with our community, public and private partners. And most importantly, when we partner with
our residents and community members.
These values are evident not only in our work that many of you see, but also internally at EBALDC,
where we support our committed and talented staff to be leaders. Together with Josh and our Executive
Leadership Team, we have expanded our leadership structure in ways that have allowed for smooth
executive leadership transition, and more leadership opportunities for our staff.
We are confident in our board- and staff-led CEO search process to find for our next CEO. We look
forward to continuing to partner with each of you to bring the change our neighborhoods and
communities want and deserve.
Go make your voice heard on Nov. 3!
In Community,
Charise Fong
Interim CEO
