Voter Registration and General Information 

Oakland Special Election Resources (APRIL 15, 2025) 

    • What is on the ballot?
        • City of Oakland Mayor (short term);
        • Oakland Councilmember for District 2 (short term)
        • Measure A: Oakland officials have placed a measure on the April special election ballot to increase the city’s sales tax rate by a half-cent (.5%) to reduce the city’s budget deficit. If approved, the ballot measure will raise sales tax in Oakland from 10.25% to 10.75% and bring in about $20 million a year in revenue. 
    • Timeline & deadlines for voting this election: 
        • March 31: last day to register to vote.
        • After April 1st: you can still conditionally register to vote and cast a provisional ballot in person at your County Elections Office at any time up to and including Election Day. You can also conditionally register at your polling place on Election Day. Your provisional ballot will be counted when your County Elections Official verifies your voter registration.
        • April 15: Election day!
