Oakland Point L.P.

Oakland Point Limited Partnership is a total of 31 scattered site apartments in large Victorian houses in the Lower Bottoms neighborhood of West Oakland. The nine buildings of the Oakland Point Limited Partnership were built at the turn of the Twentieth Century, between 1880 and 1910. The Victorian structures are all of wood frame construction and hold significant historical and architectural value for the community. Oak Park Apartments

The Oak Park Apartments project represents the renovation and reconfiguration of a former motel into 35 apartments. It is the culmination of a community organizing struggle in partnership with New Hope Covenant Church to address the severely distressed conditions of the complex and its predominantly Central and Southeast Asian immigrant residents. Marcus Garvey Commons

Located in West Oakland within walking distance of the BART station, Marcus Garvey Commons provides 22 family townhomes with individual, private rear patios for all units, small, shared front yards, and an outdoor children’s play area. Hugh Taylor House

Hugh Taylor House was a vacant and vandalized convalescent hospital until EBALDC renovated the building and invited the first tenants to move in May 1994. The project was named in honor of Hugh Taylor, the local representative to the Economic Development Administration in the 1970s who was instrumental in helping EBALDC gain funding for the acquisition and renovation of its first project, the Asian Resource Center. The California Hotel is a historic landmark on the National Register of Historic Places. Built in 1929, it originally operated as a commercial hotel and venue where jazz and blues greats performed, including Billie Holiday, James Brown, Sly Stone, Mahalia Jackson and Big Mama Thornton. In the 1960s the I-580 freeway was built adjacent to the building, dividing and isolating West Oakland.
